Madrid with Ryan

As Ryan's entry shows, eye-opening experiences can come in all types.

=====================

One of the highlights of the summer so far was the weekend trip to Madrid. We left early on a Friday morning, and drove to the city of Toledo. We stopped there for a few hours to see what the city had to offer. Toledo is known for being the first place to discover how to incorporate steel into swords. Almost every shop we passed had a big display of swords on sale. Toledo is also beautiful because of its location. It lies on a large hill, surrounded on three sides by a river. The views are beautiful. After Toledo, we continued on our way to Madrid.

Madrid is a beautiful city. One of the most enjoyable things we did while we were there was visit the Prado Museum. It is by far the biggest museum I have ever visited. It was full of beautiful paintings and sculptures. We were fortunate enough to have a whole day to spend at the museum, if we wanted to. After the museum, my friends and I walked around the city and took in the sights. As we were walking down one of the streets, we happened to witness a nude bicycle parade. Hundreds of nude bicyclists rode down the street with a police escort.

  1. Definitely not something you'd see in Lubbock! Sightseeing can be an eye-opening experience.
