The weekend gave us a couple free days that Kathy and I used to visit the port of Santa Maria and across the bay, Cadiz. We made a weekend of it, Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. The kids did a day trip to the Cadiz beach on Saturday.
Cadiz has existed for more than 3000 years and is known as the oldest city in Europe. The Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, and Spaniards have all had control over the centuries. It was the launching point for the many trips to the Americas in the 15th and 16th centuries.
